My 8.5 is definitely more vocal than my previous 8, and has become noticeably more so since I went past 5000 miles, when in sport mode there are pops etc on the overrun that simply weren’t there on the 8.

On my new RS3 (same architecture I presume), my OBD11 (old style, lifetime pro license) won't connect to the car within the app to even try a scan and long coding. I thought it might need the bonnet popped to connect - nope. Thought it might be broken, but works fine on our Cupra Born.

Using Carista however there is the option to turn on rear ‘Scandinavian’ DRLs, so both are possible, but sadly only by using both dongles at present.😩

Before 2022, when I had my mk7.5 GTD, I twice drove a Mk 8 (non-GTI) as a courtesy car.

I hated the interior. The screen was a mess, the haptic buttons on the wheel were a nightmare both of which coloured my opinion. Seriously, I was in “I’ll never have another Golf” territory.

I can honestly say that it took me 5 minutes to gel with my 8.5. That’s not dissing the Mk 8 - it’s just how it worked for me. And I’m old and retired. But am soooo happy with my GTI.

Yes indeed. But I don’t think cross traffic alert would react to parked cars like that, unless of course, the cars were moving and I’ve misunderstood.

My choice thus far is Individual. DCC in comfort and everything else in Sport.

Really interesting to read the comparison of HK over standard.

My dearly departed 2022 Volvo had HK as standard and it was chuffing brilliant. But for some reason that I cannot recall, I didn’t spec on my new Golf. Maybe because I was so distracted by the driving experience vs a Volvo estate that I forgot to properly evaluate the stereo.

Before I picked the car up I was worried. But within 5 minutes of driving away, I was reassured. The standard system is “good enough”. I’m sure the HK option is noticeably better but I’m OK with what I have. Pleasantly surprised.

Hello,

First time a member here albeit my 6th Golf - but my first GTI.

Picked it up on 9th June and absolutely loving it.

I’m recently retired and have lately had a string of nice comfortable estate cars but they’re in short supply nowadays and I’m and absolutely not having an SUV.

So the obvious replacement for a Volvo estate is a Golf GTI in Kings red metallic, Queenstown alloys and DCC because I need a tiny bit of comfort at my age.

Looking forward to getting to know the forum and its members, starting with searching how to turn off the fakery that is the Soundaktor…..
