i have a 99 2.0 gti, mine has 103k on the clock, mine LOVES to drink that petrol also, mine averages on 32mpg on motorways, and depending on where iam driving i can useally get 280miles on £40..
but i have found out that using crap petrol makes it drink it faster than it should do, i used to put normal unleaded in it for the last 2 years and it drank it like it was going out of fashion, but recently i have been putting shell optimax in, yes its more expensive but i seem to get more miles out of a tank, and the needle doesnt seem to go down as quick, i had to put sainsburys super unleaded in last week, just a tenners worth as the light came on, and it drank that very quickly, and yesterday i had to put tesco 99 ron in as the shell had no optimax and it drank that quick as well, there is something strange but good about shell optimax me thinks lol
