Title: MK3 2.0 Crankshafts
Post by: Niall.Perry on 13 October 2017, 12:23
Hi All,

I've been looking for a ABA/ABF crankshaft but haven't had much luck. I've just seen the list of engine codes that came in the Golf 2.0 and I'm not sure of the differences, is it just the head/ancillaries that are different or is the bottom end different also?

All I'm interested in is the crankshaft (ideally forged) if I can get one.
So I guess my question is, I need an ABA crankshaft are all of the below crankshafts the same? And which were made forged?
- 2E
- ABA
- ADY
- AGG
- ABF

Thanks

In reality you'll find very little difference in them all and yes, they're forged. The only one that didn't have a timing wheel attached to the crank was the 2E. Whether the holes were drilled in them for the timing wheel I don't know but it can be unbolted from all.
