tire pressure loss ind- error
« on: 15 April 2015, 19:52 »
so my wife's new mk7 displayed a 'tire pressure loss ind- error' on the MFD a couple of times.  Does this refer to pressure loss (i checked all wheels, no pressure loss), or a fault with the actual sensor system?  It's a brand new car with less than 1000 miles on it.
Wife's: mk8 TSI 1.4 RL, 5dr atlantic blue, DSG, Norfolk 17", pan s/r, leds
Now: mk7.5 TSI 1.4 RL, 5dr tornado red, DSG, Singapore 17", pan s/r, leds
Before: mk6 GTI 5dr candy white, DSG, Monza Shadow 18", s/r, bi-Xenons, DCC
Even before that: mk5 GT 5dr tornado red, manual, s/r

Happened to me yesterday, warning came up. I checked tyres visually asap and with a gauge when I got home.
No apparent loss of pressure in any tyre
Reset the moniterand so far so good.

Apparently stones stuck in tyre treads can cause the monitor to mis read.

i get it its included in the basic package but surely VW could find a way to make this work without hinches... the tire pressure monitor i have on my mk6 has not malfunctioned ever...

I am not saying it doesn't work, mine has been faultless, VW use an indirect system on the MK7 (as they did on the 6 & 5 etc) ,i.e there are no sensors in the tyre itself and therefore it relies on the ABS sensors to tell it that the tyre is out of shape, obviously this is a little open to false readings and not as good as a direct system.

I normally get an alert around this time of year as the road temperatures begin to warm up. A simple reset of the tire pressure system should sort the issue. Just confirm all the tyre pressures match first.
