The sump is back and now on the car
its filled with Castrols most expensive oil (Edge FST 5W - 30 ) which is what Audi recommend for the high output engines, not cheap but needs must
sump is a piece of kit, loads of clearence - subframe is now lowest point
shouts to ben for the aluminium boss which was made in double quick time to save the day - and still uses a original OEM Audi sump plug
(has to be mounted on the outside of the sump due to the pulley for oil pump been inside the sump in same area, and that goes right to the bottom of the sump so would foul if we was to weld anything on the inside
The boss is the same width as the OEM sump plug so the inside dimensions of the sump where the pulley sits are unchanged
here you can see the boss for oil drain
Here you can see new boss relocation for oil return. which also retains original angle of flow but now with larger hole for oil
And as you can see, we even still have the oil level sensor fitted
On the car (on axle stands - no engine under cover fitted here yet
Will get a picture tomorrow (or try to) of it with the car sat on the ground with engine undercover fitted
Feels good to be back behind the wheel of this car.. Brutal
