Mk2 16v clocks playing silly buggers
« on: 16 February 2007, 14:51 »
The mk2 16v (90 spec) clocks in my mk1 16v and have a couple of things which are starting to get on my nerves.

1. Quite often the water light flashes under acceleration, it stops as soon as I let off. this happens at any water temp, it doesn't overheat and the water level is fine (its not loosing any either) the fan works and comes on when it should? Whats that all about?

2. Now & then (happened 4x so far) The rev clock gets stuck at around 3000rpm, give it a hard rev once stationary and it comes back to life?

Anyone know whats wrong?

a common problem with the water light is a faulty coolant level sensor in the expansion tank. change that and it should fix the problem. with regards to the rev counter you're probably losing the signal from the sensor to the clocks and this would probably be a faulty sensor but i can't say thats definitely the problem.
