All I know is that whatever shape the boot is, whatever that thing you want to carry won't bloody fit.

Sloping rear window, suspension intrusion, large boot lip, seats not folding completely flat, rear interior light fitting getting in the way..... or whatever!

If you want to carry stuff, go the whole hog and buy a transit van

We have a van, not a transit, but it's a god send for shifting big stuff from A to B.

Mind you, I managed to squeeze 2 adult and 1 kid's mountain bikes into the back of my GTI (2/3 rear seats folded) a few weeks back.  Depends how adept you are at packing.

This will be cheaper even with excess miles as increasing mileage to 12k/annum adds around 35.00 (5p +VAT per mile excess) per month plus the initial payment is a lot lower too....

Also if you do less than 12k a year it will cost less as you will only pay for actual miles exceed over the 5k allowance...

I emailed those guys for a 12000 mile quote with metallic paint, free with NVC and they actually worked out a bit dearer.

Mike - it will be dearer as the 5k deal is a special offer. Just factor in the extra miles you will do and you will find the cos of the 5k CVL deal much less than the one you linked to. Also has the advantage that is you don't do those miles you don't pay for them unlike higher mileage limits where you are stuck with them.
