So how do i check if i have crap plastic fittings. Any way with out taken stuff to bits lol. I am a newb when fixing stuff on cars so bare with me lol.


After looking at the images i guess i wont be able to found out. Unless i hear an odd noise.

You'd have to rip the door trim off to do a physical check. Not sure if later mk4's come with the modded clips as standard but its a possibilty.

Yes i will keep a check on this. I surpose its a cheap thing to fix but an annoying one.

go to VW and tell them to do it for free; reading an earlier post your car falls under the 6 year and 90K mark with which VW will fix the window clips for free!

I've had both my front doors done in the last 12 months and mine was 2 years outside the standard warranty!!

Well as i have 100 miles untill i have done 90k and its 4.5 years old. I may as well go get it done. What if they start saying its not free. As i am sure they will try it.

Unfortunately mine didn't fall under the 6 years/90000 miles stipulation.
No doubt VW will find every reason not to do it :angry:

don't let them fob you off!!! do you have a couple of dealers in your area?? I'd phone both to check one of them knows about it.  If not contact VW UK direct and pester them until they admit it.

Know since ive been in this thread and talking about a problem i dont have. I just drove to tesco and i could here some odd kinda of crackerling noises comming from the driver door.

No is this what happens before the window reg goes??

Not at the time its been raining here. But during the day when in the car both front windows have been down.
