Blinded by Tesla Model 3s
« on: 27 February 2023, 18:08 »
I've recently started doing a journey along an unlit A road in the cotswolds fairly regularly and have noticed that on more than one occasion I've been blinded by an oncoming car. As it passes and my vision returns it's nearly always a tesla model 3! (not the same one)

I don't know whether it has some dodgy auto-high beam or matrix tech, or whether the headlight beam pattern is rubbish, or whether they're just misaligned as part of the usual Tesla QC process.

Anybody else experienced similar with model 3s or am I going mad?

I get blinded as a pedestrian by them so I would hate to come across one while driving on a dark road.

Can’t say I’ve seen too many Teslas in the dark despite seeing lots around.
I drive quite a bit in the dark and am often blinded by SUV’s with LED lights though.

Tesla's auto hi-beam is notoriously rubbish.  Bjorn Nyland has a few videos demonstrating just how bad.  Basically, it doesn't work. Ditto their auto-wipers.  But, you know, Tesla is the pinnacle of technology...

I used to have auto high beam in a Discovery, totally useless.
