If I were in your shoes I think I'd run the car in properly then get REVO to send a low boost file that's less aggressive if it were 'free'.
If you still get issues then as others have suggested here, a DTUK box would be a good investmemt. The power comes in on the tuning box far more like a factory map unless you go a bit bonkers with the settings.
And you will have no traction issues with an R!

I'd recommend a DTUK tuning box - whilst the outright gains might not be the same as a remap, the strain on the components is also reduced accordingly.  Got one on the GTI and love it!

How exactly is this so given the claim similar figures?

I presume he's getting at the fact that it is an amplification of the original VW set-up, rather than being very aggressively set-up in the lower end. Like the original torque/power curve, but a bit more.

The tuning box does have resale value too - something to also keep in mind.

Carbon remap with hand held flash unit. You won't get all your money back if you try and return your dtuk box.
