Out of interest, did they hand it over in the car park or was it inside in a special handover room?

Lovely colour and loving the inside. I really like the 1 series but it would be redundant for the winter with me living in Scotland!!

What a nanny state we live in today, i never had much problems in a mk2 Rs2000 RWD, no abs, traction control etc and proper thick snow and a lot of fun  so a BMW should be ok if you have got anything about ya.
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(

Quite a few of the guys on 1 series bmw forums have brought a set of steels wheels complete with decent enough hankook winter tyres for around £500. BMW want £700, but they do include wheel covers and they store your summers wheel. From reading the forums they have had no real problems in the winter with this set up.

I'm lucky as I can work from home if we get snowed in so I won't be bothering. Got caught out last year in the gti though and had to abandon the car for a couple of days.

Well my experience is from two guys at work and his 1 series without winter tyres just never moved, even in our flat car park.  Both of them bought winter tyres and wheels. I gave him a shove out on to the road and then drove away in the GTD no problems at all.
