Title: Import GTi TDi PD 150
Post by: frosticles on 08 September 2003, 22:34
Just bought a 150 off the net. Contacted my local VW dealer to see if it was an import. They said that it was a "P.I" which is a personal import. Says that it is still covered by usual 3 year warranty. What I would really like to know is:- how can I tell it's an import?? Looked at the log book and all it says is that it was new to the first registered keeper and no mention of being an import! Dealer (Independant) who I bought it from said that it was a UK model to their knowledge. Do I have a valid reason for complaint? cheeRS in advance, Kev.

I doubt it mate, on the basis that they've probably sold it as a UK model (referring to its spec), rather than an actual UK car.

I'm pretty sure mine is an import too, as VW had trouble in locating my vin/chassis number when setting up the Volkswagen Assist thingy.

Mine is UK Spec, covered under the Volkswagen assist and warranty, and I have no prob's with my local dealer. Providing there's a healthy difference between what you paid and what a UK dealer would have charged you, you're onto a winner!
