Ok so christmas left me with a bit under £500 quid in the bank so I did what any student about to go back to uni does and bought an old car that I have no intention of ever driving :smiley:
Here is the old gal, and the price I paid - well thats a secret between me and her...

first of all my dad noted how he nearly died when pulling into caistor and it didnt stop, took off the wheels and because the car had been sat for a while the disks had got pretty rusty. No problemo for mr grinder though. The pads are pretty much brand new.

then flushed out the coolent and put in genuine-ish (gsf AG-G12 plus). Dont wanna drink this stuff, but it does look good...

new was new rocker cover gasket as it was leaking sh!t (oil in laymen's terms) all over the place...

My plans are simply to tart it up and sell it on. Runs spot on just needs a basic service really :smiley:

Yer was gonna go down that route. Jamex suspension slammed, stretched 9" tyres all round. Ebay roll cage feat. bucket seats and 2" 3 point harness stapped to said cage and sand the whole thing, perhaps with a piano on the roof for the ultimate scene points.

As promised, another update. First job of the day was change the oil so out with the old -

also did minor little things that werent worth taking pics of like indicator bulb, putting wheels back on, t-cut on a few scratches ect. She is now hidden away and will be washed tommorow and then covered over.

Just with 5 months MOT, unless somone wants me to renew the tax and will pay for it there is no real issue.

You can drive an untaxed car to a MOT test centre. You need a valid MOT in order to tax the car, would be a catch 22 situation otherwise :wink:

You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle.
This is also for vehicles being driven to and from a pre-arranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test.

Can you get someone from a garage with trade insurance to collect it for the MOT?

Not trying to start an argument but to keep your dad's license clean, unless he has trade insurance etc. or the car itself is insured on someone elses policy, he can't.
The car needs to be insured before someone else with fully comp cover can drive it insurance allowing.
My dad can drive other cars third party but they NEED insurance.

There are certain thinks you cant do, like leave it on the road uninsured overnight ect ect but you can drive it without anyone formally named as been insured on the car as long as your own insurance allows it. :smiley:

And to be honest I would check the insurance thing out a bit more, I had always been told that the car needs it's own policy but I suppose it would also depend on what policy you have out on another car.
Well worth checking, on the off chance that you are not correct about the insurance and your Dad gets pulled the car will be taken away and he will get points for no insurance.

I'm pretty certain that Bellend is right about the insurance thing, I spent ages looking into it before buying my last car. The car must have a valid policy covering it in order for any other 3rd party cover to be valid (with the exception of someone with a traders policy).

Unless you have traders insurance you cannot drive a car that has no insurance against it.
Any vehicle on the public highway must be insured in its own right regardless of what your insurance says.

Right I have sorted the insurance thing, cos my dad Is a funeral director his insurance covers him in any car regardless of any other factors. This is so at funerals he can shunt any car about and be fully comp on it :smiley:
