Yes, 864S are the correct wipers. 👌

Phew! Thanks 👍🏻😁

Here! How’d you get my key ring?

My need was greater than yours so I just borrowed it for a bit!

Not yet fitted but delivered today for my mk8:

New Bosch wiper blades (hopefully ordered the correct ones), a cheap ass brush for cleaning the rear callipers which were only ordered to make the purchase up to the free delivery amount, and a new battery for the key.

Got those same wipers delivered by Amazon at 9pm last night so I'll fit them at the weekend.

Most likely the same as a mk7 one.
Mine will never get replaced as I very very very seldom use it.
With all the grit and crap that gathers on the parked blade I couldn’t bear to have that scraping across the glass if I activated the rear wipe.
I clean mine practically every week all year round and even then each time I wash the car there’s a layer of abrasive detritus sat on the wiper rubber.

Has anyone covered or wrapped their key ? Unsurprisingly, mine’s pretty scratched and I was thinking about a cover without adding too much bulk..

I bought this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304409519495?hash=item46e038a587:g:ZbQAAOSwwp9eVBlL

Worked a treat, really thick 3M material and sticks down really well.

I must say, when I first saw a mk8 Golf key fob, my immediate thought was that glossy piano black was a really strange choice of material for a key fob that’ll be handled often and kept amongst items such as coins in owner’s pockets or with other loose items in bags etc. For most owners, it’d become quite badly scratched in a very short space of time.

A ‘style over substance’ decision by VW IMHO.

My previous style key fob still looks as good as new after 27 months of use and abuse .

As it's Christmas I decided to give myself a present and top up my screen wash (I'm easily pleased).   First time I've seen the engine since the dealer (aka The Grinch) stole the cover and it's amazing how complicated a modern engine is.  I can't recall the last time I saw an engine without some form of cover.   Sorry to those with OCD about the leaf in the top left corner.

Merry Christmas to all and thanks for the chat and advice in 2022.

VW must have now sorted the issue as my new 2.0 TSI Tiguan (with the EA888), seems to be one of the first to arrive with an engine cover again, and a friend of mine just took delivery of a MK8 GTI (after waiting nearly 18 months) and his also had an engine cover, so I assume they have sorted the "issue" ?

Maybe time to contact the grinch again and ask them if you can order you one free of charge (although we all know what they will say)
