I've a few clients that I've put CanCoat on their cars as a preparation prior to a full coating and they've all said they got well over a year out of it which is a 6 month coating. It's probably one of my favourite coatings for hydrophobicity.

I'm already at about the limit of my phones camera, so we'll see how it goes!

Hi Will, when you say "clients" does that mean your a detailer??

I am, never meant to be. One of those things that started out as a way to make a bit of extra money at school, now it's many hours of work hahah.

Ahh, useful to know.

Tell us, how on earth do you clean the insides of the small triangular front windows??

Spray glass cleaner (I still use Autoglym Fast Glass) onto a cloth, wrap it around two fingers and give it a wipe, then follow up with a optical glass cloth ( https://paragonmicrofibre.com/shop/microfibre-cloths/optical-quality-glass-cloths-300-gsm/ ) push the entire cloth into the opening to dry and fill it as best you can and then move it NSWE, generally leaves a flawless result.

I use the same cloth and glass cleaner method on my gloss black plastics and radio, after blowing away any debris that was sitting on them with air, but a very light dusting also words before it, no scratches yet.

You'll be fine then, waffle is to be used dry for finishing to remove the streaks.

Also that's the car dry but as it's 12, the sun is very high so no nice photos, until later so just a teaser for now.

I went for a blast into Shropshire. Car continues to put a smile on my face - did everything today from driving up a very muddy/slippy  farmer's track to enabling some very fun overtakes.

Your car looks great Willni, you have to love a Tornado 3 door with a black roof! :)

Interesting that you don't have the front camera as fitted to UK spec cars, I understand this was an option on Irish market cars, do you see many cars locally who have the option?
Adaptive cruise is useful and the brake assist helps keep the insurance down, I understand.

I believe the radar was behind the badge on the 7.5 cars wasn't it?

Is it the radar sensor you’re referring to? If so, it’s behind the VW badge in the upper grille on UK spec mk7.5 Golfs.

Yes, you are right.....still not sure it was standard equipment for Irish markets?... Quite a few cars I have seen on the secondhand market don't seem to have it?

I have owned a Mk6 golf, no radar. A Mk7 which had a square radar sensor under the bumper in the lower grill which when it activated the first time, scared the life out of me. I have a Mk 7.5 GTI which has the radar behind the VW badge on the front. I live in Northern Ireland and believe willni does too. As we are part of the UK, to my knowledge, our cars are UK spec. I think that cars in Eire/Ireland (the Republic of Ireland) have a different spec. There are plenty of members on this forum who will be able to comment on the spec of cars in the Republic. This is meant as helpful information not political comment. Any offence that might be caused is unintentional.
