Look at you two Pug fanboys, you need to take this conversation to a new thread!

It’s traditional to hijack threads round here.
Someone will be along with a snow foam pic or another intake on their mk7 soon enough.

In the meantime...

I actually didn’t keep my 205 very long.
Like yusee, it didn’t ever break down but had loads of running faults such as an oil bathed air filter that used to leak oil onto the manifold so when the engine got hot it would look like it was on fire!

Still, the British built 309 was far worse, I hired a brand new one to go to my grandfather’s funeral in as I had passengers and owned a knackered mk1 Scirocco GTI at the time and one of the first things I noticed on the A30 heading west was the amount of daylight visible through the door seals! Good job it wasn’t raining!!

My 205 was soon traded for a staid mk2 Golf GTI 8v of 1989 vintage.
Much better built, much less fun.
A Golf GTI and a 205 GTI in the same household covers all bases :afro:

Oh, for pics, quickest and easiest is postimage.org

Back on topic...

I’ve not even looked at my mk7 for four weeks so I haven’t done anything to it today!

Never mind this Golf talk, I had a couple of Frenchies too. First was a 405 SRI with the same 1.9 engine as the 205 GTI. It was flimsy and rattled and creaked at about 20,000 miles old, but by 100,000 miles, the the rattles and creaks hadn't got any worse. Nothing broke, nothing fell off, it was actually a very good car in it's day.

A Citroen ZX Volcane followed that. I succumb to it's leather seats and air-con. Same engine again and pretty dam good. The only mishap was me attempting to cross a deep ford without realising how low the air intake was. It simple stalled due to the ingested water, so we pushed it out, pulled the spark plugs out and turned it over to force most of the water out. It fired up and spluttered for a bit, but drove it home, changed the oil and all was good again for as long as I kept it.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Yeah, you have to enjoy the rattles and creaks when you buy french. It’s part of the experience. The german car buyer, on the other hand, will listen out for barely audible sounds- then to the dealer to strip out the whole interior!
What happened to Peugeot?! they’ve made nothing but crap since the 90s. Shame.

I'm very happy with the result, makes the car look new again. Anthracite (with a little bit of sparkle) instead of the the gloss black looks cleaner for longer and goes well with the silver paint. Also makes the tyres looks blacker, if you know what I mean.
