The spring is not any kind of adjustment, it is how the ends attach to the cables. Hopefully the below will illustrate:

Took the long way round to the supermarket, 1.5 miles direct on boring roads so I took the 10 mile option with a nice stretch of dual carriageway. Even though it was raining and miserable outside, driving my car just makes me feel better. And all I wanted was some pitta breads :whistle:

I put the aliexpress footrest on today and it now looks just as it should have done from the factory.

Unfortunately, I didn't trim down the bottom lug enough (it needs more taking off than you think) and it snapped clean off. It is held on with the top lug and the torx screw and thankfully seems sturdy enough.

I just thumped mine 'til it gave in. Net result the same. It stays on just fine. Worthwhile upgrade.

Yeah that lug is a real PITA.  Broke one of mine but got it there in the end and feels solid

Ah, much better.

Loads have broken the lug off.  It requires a woman’s touch!   :laugh:
