I put some winter wheels on... and then ordered some Eibach Pro springs to try and reduce that wheel arch gap.

I had a polo which was actually ok just not a golf GTi

That's one of the problems with VW. You take a half decent car in for a service and get something on the bottom rung on the VW ladder. Once got a bright yellow Beetle when I took a new Passat in for a service. Had the Passat for 5.5 years and in all the service/issues not think I once got anything similar or better. Was also a bog std Polo. They miss the opportunity to upsell IMO by putting customers in something a bit better or faster than the have.
i got a merc A class for a couple of weeks while the golf was in for repair, a few things I noticed
Leather seats were rock hard, had a bad back after 20minutes
Steering wheel dunno what it was but it made the arthritis in my thumbs seriously hurt
Foot rest (auto) was in the wrong place and made the arthritis in my ankle play up too (seemed the tunnel was too big)
Also when I had my right leg on the throttle my knee was jammed under the armrest
Very poor visibility (small windows and large pillers)
Trying to turn the cruise control on I kept hitting the indicator
Front pre crash light WTF bright red light comes on in the middle of the speedo, I kept thinking there was a fault light
Speedo was tiny, really had to look at the clocks to see what speed I was doing
The indicators at night were a bit weird as the light on the mirror shone in the paint on the door pillar that made me think someone was next to me when pulling out
Sure there's more but I was put of driving it so only took it out if really needed
Not going into the power as it was a eco diesel

To be fair if you're going in with a golf GTi to be upsold something it's only an R that would do it and I doubt any dealer will have Rs as service vehicles.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.
