Ok so I've just spoke to a company called Silver Wheels who ironically are on the same retail park as The Wheel Specialist who can do the job for £80 but if they need to mix & colour match which I think they will have to do it's gonna be £114 in vat, so it's £12 more BUT they will guarantee it will look the same as the others which I'm happy with.

They can't do it till a week on Thursday and again will need the car for two days.

I can bring just the wheel in but I don't want to risk any more damage  so will leave the car with them.

Lepsons is cheaper but once I factor courier service which is a cost then it works out more.

How much more is Lepsons? There is a reason they have such a good reputation and you could be assured they will do it right. How badly damaged is the wheel by the way?The reason I ask is have you considered getting another wheel and keeping the damaged one as a full size spare.

TBH the damage isn't that bad really. I will take a pic and post up once I have the car back in the morning.

One new wheel is around the £250 mark and ideally yes I would prefer this and get a refurb as and when. Realistically though I can't justify the cost as you know I've spent a fortune of late on the car already.

The wife can understand me wanting the refurb but I doubt if I say " oh instead of ton it's gonna £250'' she wouldn't be to happy and I dare say I would be in the dog house.

They suggested doing the front two but again they still wouldn't look all the same. I've never come across a refurb company not being able to colour match properly but then I haven't had many wheels refurbished.

They suggested doing the front 2? Seriously?

Is that so that the wheels can look a different shade regardless of what side of the car you're standing at

If anything it should be 2 from the same side then if its just the slightest shade out you would never know.

At least they are being honest with the colour match. Some folk would take your money then tell you its the best they can do.

Hopefully it turns out okay for you.

Yes this what I said to the wife, so I was very thankful that they were honest.

I know the car isn't 100% Because of the wheel so it's probably 99% but I can't wait to get it back....I mean it's only a week old tomorrow.

Went to the dealer's yesterday to sort out what they were going to about the scratch and swirling on the car. I had a quote from Barry at Auto Detox for just the swirlmarks and the scratch of £460 and Barry said the scratch was too deep to get rid of but he could get it to a point where it would be only noticeable under certain lighting and angle conditions which I would prefer over respraying the rear quarter of the car.

Anyway after leaving me sitting at a desk for nearly an hour they refused to pay for the damage do I rejected the car. Roll on a Mk7.5

Oh lord. Sounds very drastic action to take over a small scratch imo.
Sods law you'll have the car a week and it'll pick up another little scratch or the first of many stone chips anyway.

They should have offered to pay for the machine polish though.

That's not good especially if they have made the marks I preparing the car for collection.
I can feel anyones pain when you get a chip scratch or any mark on a new car I had mine a week and git a stonechat about 2' above the windscreen on the roof curve I was gutted straight to the primer so went to chips away  ( never again ) sort of covered it but when I had it in for detailing just before Xmas ready for winter they more or less gor rid of it I have to look hard now at a certain angle to see it but I know it's there

Yes it is drastic but I they told me that they were not going to pay for it and that was that and that I had taken the car. Quick chat with my solicitor before going in so I know where I stood. I wasn't asking for a loan car when mine was getting done or any other costs than the rectification. I could have asked for a car to be painted which would have cost more than twice as much.

They obviously thought that I would just go away, you should have seen there faces when I said fine, I'm rejecting the car

On a plus point I'm going to spec up a Mk7.5 GTi today, with a different dealer. After all I really wanted a GTi

If I collect a new car I fully expect it to be in perfect condition, if it isn't then I expect them to pay to get it so.

If I collect my car in perfect condition and I drive it out and 1/4 mile down the road and I get a stone chip or scratch then that is sh!t luck but that is down to me being there at that time and place and not because a dealer can't be bothered to look after the cars in there stock. Btw the scratch happened when the car was there because I couldn't see it in any of the photos I took of the car weeks ago.
