and get my hubs painted.

Very wise move Mr GTD.

Always trying to think of ways for it to look nicer and make life a bit more easier on the eye when all clean and shiny.
Absolutely hated the state of my hubs on the MK6 so just thought better to get the new one sorted sooner rather than later.

Don't think there's much else I could do to the GTD...?

Dropped mine off to have the wheel repaired and get my hubs painted.

Get it back Wednesday.

That reminds me - must get mine booked in for a refurb from the pothole I hit.

My damage or should I say "my Bro's'' really wasn't that bad but you know how it is even with smallest of blemishes on shiny new wheels it would Just play on my mind and every time I come to clean the car I would be reminded so just wanted to get it sorted asap and as it was already booked in for the hubs just made sense.

It's gonna cost £102 inc vat.

Just had a call from The Wheel Specialist where my hubs & wheels are being done and they've said on closer inspection they can't colour match to a original colour of BBS so if I went ahead it would look ever so slightly different to the other 3... which won't be good enough so I've told them to just do the hubs for now.

They suggested doing the front two but again they still wouldn't look all the same. I've never come across a refurb company not being able to colour match properly but then I haven't had many wheels refurbished.

Anyone else come across this before.?

They do there own gunmetal grey so when I collect either this afternoon or tomoz morn I'm gonna have a look at it.
I might end up doing all 4 at a deal price.

Proper gutted that my Bro's carelessness is gonna cost me more £.

How can they no match the colour, all they have to do is call BBS and get the colour code and mix the paint. Do they paint or just powder coat them?

Mr GTD, The Wheel Specialist state on their website;

"To get the best match for your vehicle, The Wheel Specialist will match your existing finish on your vehicle with the help of our developed system."

So they're suggesting they have the expertise to be able to colour match. If they can't do it, I'd give Lepsons a call and ask them if they can match the colour. They did a good job of colour matching one of Rebecca's (Booth11) wheels that was refurbished recently and the colour used on VW Pretorias is apparently a difficult one to match. Worth giving Lepsons a call? They sometimes provide a free courier collection and delivery service too.

Ok so I've just spoke to a company called Silver Wheels who ironically are on the same retail park as The Wheel Specialist who can do the job for £80 but if they need to mix & colour match which I think they will have to do it's gonna be £114 in vat, so it's £12 more BUT they will guarantee it will look the same as the others which I'm happy with.

They can't do it till a week on Thursday and again will need the car for two days.

I can bring just the wheel in but I don't want to risk any more damage  so will leave the car with them.

Lepsons is cheaper but once I factor courier service which is a cost then it works out more.

How much more is Lepsons? There is a reason they have such a good reputation and you could be assured they will do it right. How badly damaged is the wheel by the way? The reason I ask is have you considered getting another wheel and keeping the damaged one as a full size spare.

Phone Lepsons and ask what garages local to you have a trade account with them. Most people with Lepsons trade accounts get free pickup and collection so I took advantage of that.

Lessons told me who to go too, I dropped the wheel off and said please send this to Lepsons - they're expecting it, paid my £108 and then got it back 3 days later.

My refurb looks like it will be £72 inc VAT from a local bodyshop that do all the repairs/alloy refurbs for the local Audi dealer.

If it got much over £100 I'd seriously consider a new wheel, especially as yours are brand new wheels.

Eventually you could turn your damaged wheel into a round coffee table with a bit of round glass - at least your refurb then doesn't have to match the rest of them exactly

If you've used them before and were happy with Lepsons Mr GTD, why not use them again.  Their great reputation is well earned.  As SRGTD says, they refurbed one of my Pretorias and it is a notoriously difficult colour to match - even when using the official paint code - many have had theirs come back darker.  Lepsons used their own paint colour mix and it was spot on.  Lepsons collected my wheel from my local bodyshop (car needed other repairs) and delivered it back there.

The result:

Non refurbed wheel                                                                            Refurbed wheel
