Refitted my nearside mirror cap as it wasn't on quite right after it was recently replaced. Spot on now  The whole mirror assembly has just been replaced after a Dutch lorry decided to remove it and on taking the cap off I found the new part to be a lot more cheap and plasticky than the original. More cost cutting at VW?

Counting the swirlmarks

Hard to take a photo of them but it looks much worse in person.

And from your 'new arrivals' post, that was with the guy at the dealer using the better sponge, reserved for prepping new cars. Thank goodness he didn't use the one used for service washes!

Slightly off topic; my car went back to the dealer yesterday for its first service. The guy on the service desk is into his car cleaning and detailing and fully understood why I didn't want my car washed with the the usual dealership Brillo pad sponge and dirty water after it had been serviced (it was spotlessly clean when it went in anyway). I still put my do not clean sign in the car and got them to add a note to the service job sheet

5 minutes with a DA using a light polish would sort that out.

It looks much worse when looking at it though and the car is covered in them. I think they use thoes water blades there too because there is straight swirls as well. Then there is the scratch that I can feel. I have it booked in at a detailers on Monday to check it over and advise on the best course of action.

I have never had a car with this many swirls on it.

Drove the car for the first time today in the wet with the bridgestones and it was an eye-opener, ordered a set of Michelin pilot spot 4's to be delivered.
