Put a letter through everyone's door on my street who has a house facing the back (we live in a square, with the houses wrapped around it in a "U" shape, the middle run having a back in the next street where the driveway is) to warn them there's a vandal about and to be vigilant when parking their car back there. Put a special version through the "special" neighbour's door (the one I suspect did it) which read the same, but added in a paragraph that stated after reviewing the footage of my dashcams, the incident had been recorded and the footage will be forwarded to the Police.

It seemed a better story to make him sweat a bit if it was him, waiting for a call from the Bobbies. If I had dashcams, he'd have to scrutinise the car to see them.

Expensive incident - £300 for the repair to pay and £300 to knock a bit of wall down and tidy up/repoint the remaining column to widen the drive entry enough to make it viable to use. Seems a lot for the job, but half the money is tied up getting rid of the rubble and gates.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Thanks.

They are from Europl8 http://www.europl8.net  if you buy online you need to send official ownership docs (V5 etc), but I got them via a friend on another forum who picked them up at a recent show for me.  If you get them on the day at shows you don't need your docs.  They are all UK legal and have the name of the manufacturer, postcode, and BS number laser etched  onto the plate as per regulations.  Cost me £25.

Like the pressed plates Rebecca.

I can remember when pressed plates were fitted to new cars by the dealer as standard (had them on my first new car in 1980) and I really wanted a set of Perspex plates, which were just becoming popular at that time. Funny how trends change.

What did you use to stick them on Rebecca?

I stuck them on with 3M Heavy Duty 20mm Foam Tape (3mtr roll)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BR2MTS0/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item

Front plate is stuck onto the existing numberplate surround, just removed the plastic screw covers, removed screws, removed old plate, cleaned surround with Panel Wipe/IPA to make sure it was grease/dirt free and then stuck the plate on holding and pressing down for 30 secs.  Rear plate is stuck directly onto the car (no surround), cleaned as before and attached using the same tape.  The 3mtr roll was just enough to do both plates.

Not so much what I did to the R but what I did for my R. Had the builders round to knock down part of the wall making up one side of the opening to the driveway. It was a stupid design by the house builders, the wall diagonally came in to rob you of 4ft of your driveway that sat beyond the gate and gave me about 2" clearance either side of the wing mirrors when folded.. have loads more room now and fitted a 30W LED spotlight with PIR.
