I've not heard of this happening, either with Forge/samco or SFS stuff... although the cost savings with SFS are most likely in the manufacturing process. Somewhere out there, there is a geek who knows all about silicone hose fabrication who will have the answer

lol - i'm surprised you don't know 

well at this point in time SFS are the only people making hoses for the TDI's and the bloke who works for them used to work for Samco

going to pop to VW and get a price for the standard hoses methinks - wish i hadn't sold them now

Hard to tell from the images, but has the hose wall actually split or is it just the inner lining all torn up?  3rd image at 4:30 o'clock ish, is that a split in the hose?  Looks to me like its been taken on and off a few times over a sharp edge and torn the lining away.

According to receipts I got with our car it had two full sets of hoses done by VW in 90k odd miles.  As I recall they charged £130 for the set.

its a tight fit over the connector but its only come off 3 times max since i've had it, the 3rd time being last night

the indentions are where it sits over the metal joiner

i've looked on ETKA and i'm looking at approx £80 for the two hoses (the SFS one is just one long hose)

sold my old hoses for £20 too - DOH!!
