-
And i got it for 100 quid off ebay, not bad
-
must be handy havin your own!!, i used to have one i made at work from some angle iron/box section and a bottle jack.. but sold it years back when i gave up the garage i used to do mot work in me spare time.. i use the one at me work now when im doin the odd late shift.. but you have to be carefull, its an industrial 50 ton jobby and if you havent got the spacers right and start pumpin somethings going to go bang.. and its bound not to be the spacers or the bearing or the press... lol
will make my own again when i eventually get a garage to do my bits... bargin there though ive seen em go for alot more!!

corin if u find another one, let me know..
the amount of bloody times ive seen the bloke swear whilst doing the wheel bearings is unbelieveable..id buy him one just to shut him up..

There's loads on ebay, this is where i got mine

Just a small word of warning, everything on the press, like the pushrod for example, was not dead straight, so a few minor 'modifications' might be necessary
-
You can get a new bench one like this for example:-

But you're still looking at double the price. Probably worth keeping an eye on ebay for something local that you can look at.

Thats the cheapest i could find, about 200 quid.
The one on ebay is 100 quid including delivery, so couldn't be beaten really
-
nice one! we have a 10 ton at work and sometimes it's not quite enough lol
you don't really need a press for rear bearings though. I always just hammer then in using the tool that only lets them go in straight :)
-
Thats right, a press isn't necessary for rear bearings.
I bought it to do both fronts on the Polo, and since found the rears are f**ked as well, so might as well use the press for that as well.
-
I've got a front wheel bearing to do on a rallye tomorrow when I get into work lol.
-
I found it a more difficult job than i first thought it would be
Here are some pics of the rear races being pressed in....
