Mk 1 Golf GTi Cabriolet
« on: 03 July 2011, 12:15 »
Hi my names pete i live in devon, fairly new to the golf scene as iv got two classic beetles and a t4.
iv just bought a mk1  golf gti cabrolet, that i plan to restore, its a b plate and looks pretty tidy.

when i was checking the car over, on the side of it there was a decal saying ''black special'', iv tried having a look round the web for a bit more information on this a cant really find anything on it.

Could anyone possible fill me in on what the decal means becuase im stumped???
was born with nothing and still got most of it

They made a Black Edition in 85 and 86. Came with Montego black metallic paint, black interior with white stripes and either tarantula or zandvoort wheels

If it is a Black Edition, then not very many. As for how many that exactly is, I wouldn't know where to start short of sending a letter to Volkwagen.

According to this http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/volkswagen_golf_cabriolet only 11 cars for 85/86 are on the road in the UK.

I just cant get my head round these figures...... way too low... also don't understand where you differentiate between mk1 and 2 in the same year.. Am I missing something?
