Just wanting some advice please. I have a 86 mk2 gti standard and I'm paying ?1650 insurance (20yr old 0 yr's no claims)...
I am dead set on getting a mk1 cabby. Just wanting to know if anyone knows if i could get insured on a cabby for approx the same price. (i know i should check with my ins comapny really).. Looking to get a solid mk1 and spend all my cash on t to make it a top notch cab!!!

But insurance is putting me off. Am wanting a gti really. has anyone got any ideas. Thanks very much in advance

insurance on a cab is going to be more because of the high theft risk (soft roof and all that), best thing would be to contact someone like HIC or brentacre that specialise in performance cars and young drivers ;)

also if the cabs going to be a project car then it might be worth spreading the work out until you have a full years ncb behind you with the mark 2.  classic insurance with a limited mileage would also be much cheaper. but this doesnt gain u any no claims bonus  :-\

brentacre,
HIC,
tesco,
elephant
are all good, but try www.confused.com for loads of insurance quotes at once

www.insuresupermarket.com do the same. bash in your details and it gets you lots of quotes. you'll need to enter more info on the actual companies sites, but it's worth a shot. if you plan to modify it and declare your mods then beware of the run of the mill companies that advertise on the TV. they rememer a testical for every mod ;)

brentacre are good with mods.
