Title: Eibach ARB - Help Fitting Them
Post by: X4MGS on 24 May 2010, 21:22
Just bought a second hand set of Eibach ARB's and I am looking to fit the Rear one tomorrow...

But I dont have any fitting instructions... Grrrrr

I have found out how to fit them at the outer ends as you just seem to replace the bolts on the bottom of the Shocker/struts...

What I need help with is the two center fixings and the parts that are supplied and how best to fit them?

Can anyone help me please!!

Thanks in advance...

You are missing a bush.

Once the bush is on the metal straps hold it to the rear axle.

they are fitted to the bar, I think...

Is there a particular way of mounting the straps and the other metal parts (Which I assume go between the straps and the bushes & trailing arm...

Thanks!!

The straps on mine are fitted with the bolts to the rear of the car (like in the hollow side of the axle if you follow me) and the bolt heads facing down.

Have you done the front yet? That's a real pain in the arse

It won't fit - you are missing parts, don't bother trying to fit it, just post it to me

Too late M8...

Rear one fitted today...

As is usual with me, I had thought it was more complicated to fit than it actually was....

4 bolts, 2 straps and asst bits... Only Tools Needed; axle stands, Trolley Jack, 16 & 17mm Spanners & Sockets, Allen Keys, Hammer & some copper slip... Took me a few hours to do it, but very easy in the end...

Used this thread as a guide - http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130673, but TBH the Eibach ones are in some ways a little easier to fit as you don't have the drop link to put in place....

Put The Car On The Stands and remove wheels, hold ARB in place with jack and put on the straps and guides and loosely tighten them.

Remove Both bolts from Shocks at the bottom of the strut, with jack under one to take the weight. Put in new longer bolts (100mm) with help from  my trusty hammer (one next to the Exhaust was a bit of a PITA)... Tighten up all the bolts plus the ones on the straps, put wheels back on and take car off the stands..

Job Done...

Car now Handles Much Better what with the lower Eibach Springs, Boge Turbo Shocks and new ARB...

Well Happy!!!
