Hey folks, i've had my golf for just over a week now, however something ive noticed is when i turn the ignition on on, the fuel pump will start making the 'noise' it makes, but it seems to last for a good 20 seconds! Seems quite long does it not? If anyone has any ideas i would be grateful! The car has done 100k miles now.
just dont want the pump to fail or anything like that, rather be safe than sorry!

Cheers for the reply Wayne, its appreciated!

Since when is 20 secs normal, I'm sure all the Golfs i've owned have only buzzed for 2 or 3 at the most?

20 secs is far to long, 2 -3 secs is normal, relay on the pump needs replacing sounds like or the pump is on its way out

Sorry reread it, yes 20 secs is too long however the pump is running all the time when the engine is running so maybe it is getting noisy.
