Mine doesnt have DPF. Certainly is a very good car and sensible buy. Considerably more economical than the mk2 GTi. Still haven't got 'used' to it though... still in love with the mk2 GTi lol. I'm sure the mk5 will grow on me eventually

It took me a while when I first had the MK4.  I test drove the MK5 but didn't get on with the fit and feel of the interior.  As a car it was excellent  :smiley:

The DPF system is more reliable in terms of consistent emissions and fuel consumption, however, it needs time to activate, and also time to run regeneration cycles, so short journeys do it no good. :sad:

I made this : ->

Yeah my 4 mile run to work doesn't do it any favours  :lipsrsealed:

I do tend to take it for a thrashing on the weekends mind and I do the odd long trip for work so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be ok  :lipsrsealed:

Although I own a 170 I really like the 140, the later pd140's do have dpf but most don't.

If I was buying a mk5 I'd go for the 140 time after time, if they made a mk6 GTD 140 I'd gave bought that too :-)
