Still confused regarding the fuel issue!

Found an original sales brochure for the 16v on the internet, and it states on the spec sheet that you can use 95 rom.  

I would rather use 98 rom but haven't really seen it about where I live, does anyone know if Shell Optimax is 98 rom or 97 rom?

Will it be alright to use 97 rom??

My 1990 16v runs great on Optimax or any 97/98 octane super.  Just think it would pink like mad on 95 and it says on an original spec sticker inside the fuel filler door to use super unleaded.
