Has anyone with reversing sensors front & rear....done the following?

Right....
1. drive into a parking space with a kerb or something that the front sensors notice as a hazard
2. Get out of car( and pop into the shop for example)
3. Return to car start engine and P/sensor starts bleeping( and thort "what's behind me I can't see anything" so got out of car to check....and then after getting back into the car the (light bulb in my head turns on and realises Oh yeah i also have front P/sensors...

Done it twice now!!

I asked for Monza Shadows when I ordered mine but they wouldn't do it I can only have the wheels designed for that vehicle, more dealer bull.

Yeah bought Monza's but not from the dealer, or tho I did ask and got told the same thing...luckily tho Truckerash was selling his brand new ones as he upgraded to the ED35 wheels....I bought them for £650 then spent another £485 wrapping them in Goodyear Asymmetric 2s so total £1135....

nice,
Funny how I was looking at the GTD wheels on a new one in the showroom while mine was been serviced and thoight how I liked those better.
Vw should allow us to spec the ones we want as everyone does.not have the.same taste.

Yep totally agree....what's the harm in wanting( in my case the monza shadows) for a GTD, I mean it looks in every way the GTI and the only diff I think is the wheels, So what's the harm, everyone has diff tastes.....So come on VW give us what we want!!

Can I be nosey and ask if you upgraded the music system and have you acc fitted and does it make a difference to the way the car rides over bumps .
Very nice car by the way
I have a Tiguan and having driven it my wife now wants a GTD .

Thanks for the compliments!

No I haven't upgraded the sound system, I have the one that comes std which I must say is very good, well it's good enough for me anyway...

and No again mate, the ACC was an option I did think about but as soon as I test drove the GTD decided I didn't need it...I have heard its good tho but as I've never driven with it thought I'd rather buy the Monza Shadows...

Are you thinking new from factory or used?
Title: Re: It's Here
Post by: Pinky 1959 on 25 March 2012, 19:59
Since I had to get rid of my last car as it kept running rough (garage kept finding something new to suggest fixing useless twits )and I bought a Tiguan 170 sport and the quality is a million miles better than any car we have had before (although the price is too ) we have decided that having had her Astra for 6 years a golf GTD may be a nice idea but not till after our summer holiday and we would like a new one but may be wiser getting a nearly new one or up to a year old one although there probably not be that much difference in price ( as there wasnt with the Tiguan .
She is still undecided but we may end up checking dealers stock as I got my Tig which the dealers had in and I econ I got a good deal .
Does anyone know what amount of discount can be had off a new GTD .
Thanks

As far as I know, nothing! didn't go the paint protection route with the dealer as it gets cleaned once a week anyway,

To clean the exterior I use grease lightning's "Showroom Shine" I've used it now for a few years...but I fancy a change now so once I run out of stuff I will purchasing some different products!

Get some protection on there mate.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Collinite 476S. I've used it exclusively for 4 years. It's very durable and looks fine, regardless of what people say. I would never try anything else as I don't feel that I need to!

I've been very happy using Autoglym SRP, EGP and then Colly 476. SRP and EGP are both very good products, but they're often ignored (wrongfully, imo) probably because of the AG name and also because they're mainstream products available from Halfords -- although probably available for cheaper online

With all 3 of them, just remember, less is more  :nerd:

I'm sure many will disagree but if you Google then you will get a LOT of good reviews. You honestly can't beat it IMO it has absolutely fantastic durability, will easily last a winter if you don't touch it & still be beading nicely afterwards. I would never change my sealant/wax as it does such a good job, and that's what it's supposed to do, seal the paintwork. When the weather gets a bit nicer, I will prep my car properly, and may consider a different polish/filler & glaze but we'll see

I would also recommend Autosmart Tardis and CarPro IronX --- the IronX especially, again Google it and even see if there are any videos on YouTube. A lot easier + quicker and less risky than claying with an aggressive clay. When I picked my car up it had SO MUCH ind fallout on it and Iron X got rid of it all. We only had a mild clay and that didn't even touch the stuff!

I also use a product called jetseal 109 sealer on the wheels and once or twice on the body.
I have used poorboys and dodo waxed before but um lazy and find colinite lasts longer

Reasonable price, and good delivery service. Got a handwritten 'thank you' note with the 2 orders I've placed - a nice personal touch.

Keith, assuming you're referring to the Wheel Woolies; you get 3 for £39, which if my maths is correct, works out at £13 each, not £39 for a single brush. Can't speak from personal experience of usng them but I've seen some very good reviews of these by members on various car detailing forums.

Just to add some balance, I think you'll find you can also get wheel brushes off the Clean Your Car site for £6 - £7, which I would consider to be a reasonable price.

Clean Your Car website, like other similar sites, has a wide ranging customer base, from the serious car detailer to owners like me and, I daresay, many others on this forum who just like to keep their cars looking good, and who like to have access to a wider and better range of products than you can get from Halfrauds, with prices to suit different budgets. I think you'll find that many of the products on this, and similar sites are no more expensive than you'd pay at Halfords, plus, you get door to door delivery. At the end of the day, you pay your money and take your choice.

Some people would say a Golf GTD is expensive compared to the competition, but It didn't stop you (or me) buying one!
