MK3 Rattle by the safety belt

Just wondering if anyone else has a really annoying rattle on their MK3. Mines a GTi 16V but there is the most annoying rattle comming from begind where the safety belt is mounted or in the rear panel where the back seat is as mine is a 3 door.

Anyone else had anything like this, how much of a job is it to get behind the safety belt or in behind the rear panel where the speaker is?

yeah have the exact same problem on the exact same car, just occured a few miles ago, and is very annoyinh, any help would be appreciated

It kind of comes and goes doesn't it! Its well wierd, sometimes it sounds like there is a cat screeching away in there. You wouldn't expect this from a VW

Maybe I'll get my sockiet set out this week and see if I can find out what is going on.

I took the card off the back the other day, I finally got around to doing this, I found that there was a rattle inside the safety belt unit which is sealed. Replacements are about ?58 +vat from VW.

Before I do this there is some washers to be added on the clip that the belt slides through as this is loose also and the shroud that slides up and down need some foam.

I am going to kill that cat thats in there somewhere!

Got the same 1 on my mk 3 8 v when car is cold its ok but come off the motorway & it creaks in the back when you pull off or when travelling into Car parks or very slow moving traffic...(have tried everything!!)
