Run Forrest Run!!
« on: 27 August 2011, 10:48 »
a few of you may know that I have an old course buddy of mine who is into his ultra running... he's done all sorts before like running from athens to sparta in Greece (non-stop).. running 135 miles through death valley in mid-summer, running through the sahara and running from Birmingham to London non-stop...

but now he has just topped it all... he's been completing in the LA to NY Race Across America this summer... 3220 miles over 70 days... today he runs into New York (hopefully ahead of Irene)..

he's been writing a blog every day since he started in June... he's been through hell and back running through middle America during one of their hottest summers in history..

a very interesting read that I wanted to share with you all http://runningandstuff.squarespace.com/ram/

if you want to start at the beginning then start here... http://runningandstuff.squarespace.com/ram/2010/11/22/this-one-deserves-a-new-blog-of-its-own.html its a long read but James had a very good sense of humour.

he's also been writing a weekly column in the telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/activityandadventure/8720005/The-star-spangled-runner-New-York-dreaming.html - which is a highlights version of his blog

i'm sure you'll all agree that its a superhuman effort!

Well done to him :afro:

Has he run the Comrades ultramarathon? I know it's not as evil as his other runs and would be more like a warm up for him but I bet he could do it in double quick time and make the rest look like amateurs  It's one run that I've always wanted to do, but I'm a sh!t runner.
