thanks jv...... right down to business where to start, I bought a mk2 gti 8v on ebay for the princley sum of 250, bargain i thought! the spec as follows,15/12/1989  ,big bumpers, orig black, coilovers, lots of paperwork, emblemless grill no spots but orig vw gti grill in boot. So i thought why not it would be nice to own another gti(my last one was in 98)now the bad points,no mot, rusted right wing,no fith gear, interior mouldy(didnt find that one till i got home) but nothing that cant be fixed ithought.
Right that was picked up last saturday from wigan it has been on my front lawn since(its been snowing and raining everytime i step outside to do something )
got some pics though, must ad i,d just attemted to clean it(pet hate of mine dirty cars )

right so much for the history, the first thing for me to find out was which parts have been touched and which havnt, ie, big bumpers are not orig, the speedo wasnt working but figured that out(thanks 8v)it had a digi speedo gear fitted, post 90,s steering wheel and stalks, weighted shifter from a mk3 but i think that was all that was done to it.

Now it needs a linkage repair kit so im gettin one on sat, a cv boot but dont know if im gettin the pre split one heard there a bit crap (feedback welcome on that one) it also needs 4 wheel nuts as there are only 3 in each wheel??.
as youve probably guessed i dont have a massive budget for this project(have 2 kids and a wife to feed lol)mostly my intensions are to get it back to its original condition with a few improvements,
ice and handling maybe a bit more power but havnt been able to realy test it as the linkage is shot
but im pleased that the shell is solid and not shunted or bent!
