Exhaust System for TDi
« on: 04 May 2010, 10:09 »
as the title really, finally don't have to justify a nice exhaust :undecided: and so wanna get something nice.

has anyone got an exhuast on a 130 - just wondering what kinda size gives a nice sound and what examples there are and what they look like........

is it worth getting a full system or just backbox......

any help would be great.
a work in progress......someday i might think i'm happy with a car....maybe

so far: 40mm Gmax lowering kit, upper and lower S3 strut braces, pipercross panel filter, Smoothed air box and 18" Audi R8 reps

I've got a 2.5 inch system from the turbo back

Milltek downpipe together with a Pro-Speed cat back system with an Anni tip

Quiet when cruising - nice deep rumble when you hit the go go pedal

can't decide on the tip either - i like the anni tip but was thinking of going for something a little different......

how much did you set up cost?

£165 for the Milltek downpipe but THS do one too which is slightly cheaper

Cat back was £300 from Pro-Speed in Cardiff near me.  There's only one of them mind so I'd shop around your area for custom exhaust places and get some prices

does the downpipe make a big difference?

downpipe makes the biggest difference on a diesel

You'll be more mid range torque and the power will hold for longer

Read through my build thread and you'll see some graphs from when I first had the downpipe fitted - smoothed the torque curve right out and I gained an average an extra 10bhp across the power band

lol - glad to help :afro:

If you are only getting the downpipe go for the THS Performance one as that comes with a range of adaptor sleeves to fit your current system.  With the Milltek you'll need and adaptor from Jetex so it will work out more expensive

thanks for the vid, sounds nice any chance of a clip driving and warm?

sorry to be picky but wanna work out what to get, had a 5" exhaust on my old car but that was a bit too much, grown up a bit since then and want something that's gonna sound and look nice but not over the top......

thanks for all the help, think this may all get done this coming pay day

think i'll probably get the down pipe and get the exhaust done at the same time but not sure where i'll go for the exhaust or what kind to get......
