Been Looking For A How To Thread For These For Years & Never Found One.... So Thought I would have a play and do one....
I had a couple of very rare rear mechs on a car that a guy was desperate to have but I knew that they didn't work so thought sod it - Lets have a go - Nothing to loose!!
Here Goes;
Mech's...
Tools & Stuff Needed.... WD40, Grease (Both Spray & Solid), Torq 25, 16mm Spanner, Phillips & Flat Screwdriver's, Plyers....
Spray the screws etc with lots of WD40...
Remove The 2 Screws & Washers for the Motor....
Gently Ease The Motor Away -
DON'T try and pull it all the way out!!Remove the 2 x 16mm rubber bolts...
Remove the 3 x T25 Torq screws...
Take Off The Metal Cover/Top - revealing the wire winder mech, careful not to pop off the runners with the springs, or you will have to mess about rewinding them on to the reel... Easy to do just time consuming...
CAREFULLY turn the whole unit over...
Pop a flat screwdriver between the plastic middle & Alloy base and free off the bottom of the mech;
Look at all the Crud around the mech;
You can now remove the Motor & Worm Drive...
I now connected the motor to a spare battery to make sure it was working... I also sprayed some WD40 on it first... DON'T Use Grease or you'll ruin it...
