18" alloys or 17"?
« on: 20 July 2011, 21:15 »
hi there!

i have a 1999 Golf gti 1.8 (n/a), im looking at getting the BBS ch alloys BUT i don't know if 18"'s will fit (tyre size 225/40/18) would i need to roll the arches? or will they fit fine? as far as i know the car is still all standard and currently has 195-65-15 wheels.... or will i have to go for 17"'s on the 205/40/17??

Pictures of what 18"'s and 17"s look like would be brilliant

thanks! :)

I had know problems with the 18s,the 19s only scraped once due to me putting on 10mm spacers on the rear for a fatter stance and like i said previously i had a car full and hit a really bad bump on the brow of a hill.no arches rolled or anything else  they fit like a glove

As long as you run the correct offset you will be fine.

+1 on the offset, if it's wrong you may need spacers depending on the width of the wheel, then you risk having scraping On the arch so arch rolling would be best idea. Speaking from first hand experience unfortunately :(
