Need advice - time to sell a much loved mk4 GTI
« on: 09 September 2023, 08:18 »
Hi - I'm a new member looking for some advice.

I have a 1999 Mk4 GTi (the 1.8T) in black that I have owned from new. It is a superb car and in almost 25 years of motoring has only had 2 unscheduled trips to the garage (an alternator and starter motor). 115k miles on the clock and full VW service history. Its in great mechanical nick but has a few minor niggles (e.g  glove box is broken and boot central locking sometimes temperamental).

The thing is, I have a new job and need to travel a bit more and so need something a bit more comfortable and so with much regret, I am selling the car.

Any advice of where it might find a good home - would GTI enthusiasts be interested and where might I put it on offer. WeBuyAnyCar are offering £600 and I could get £2000 from the ULEZ scrappage scheme but a part of me would like it to go to a good home.

Thoughts and advice welcome (you can probably guess that I'm not really a car expert)

Thank you
