I have a MK5 TDi 4Motion with summer tyres on and it hasn't missed a beat in this snow.
I find it much better in the snow than my old Evo 5 too.

Putting the winters on the wife's R, she is running 18s on Hankooks Icept from memory, they were woeful for 500 miles then impressed
time will tell how good it is, i'm hoping dsg will help at low speeds but time will tell
