What does everyone else use instead of buying a dedicated spray to use when clay baring? Car shampoo and water mix?

Yes, a lubricious shampoo solution.

Have you tried a clay mitt? So much easier, just dunk it into a bucket of strong shampoo mixture. You could always use to 2BM to ensure the debris goes into the second bucket. I think that mitts are better too, as you spread the pressure you apply over a larger surface area, rather than the small area between pinched fingers and thumbs. To my mind, that means less chance of marring.

Ours can be used with either a specific lube or shampoo.
