Title: using android phone
Post by: nigeldodd on 18 January 2018, 18:34
I have ordered a gti 7.5 with pretty much standard spec. Can I expect to be able to make hands free calls with an Android phone? I am unable to find this info on the vw website. If I can make calls, where is the microphone?

thanks

Hi Nigel

You should have no problems making and receiving phone calls on an Android phone. Just pair your phone via Bluetooth and all should be OK. You can even have 2 phones paired at once if you so wish.

Thanks for that. I'm relieved I don't need any extras.

Do you know where the microphone(s) are in the Golf?

To answer my own question, there is a diagram here https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/golf+variant+4motion/golf/2014-746/0/035-35050/ showing that the microphone is above the windscreen in the centre console.

I am also puzzled by how a phone can get a decent signal when it is down in a cubbyhole rather than up on the windscreen (which is where I mount it in my Old Car).

What does the aerial stub do at the back on the roof?

Does a heated front windscreen stop the phone signal getting into the cabin?

Does a glass sunroof improve reception?

All these questions!

Works fine in your pocket too ;)

I have the climate screen on mine and the signal is fine. I never take my phone out of my pocket.

If you have any specific Mk7 questions, you'll get plenty help in the Mk7 section of the forum.
