My dealer (in Ireland) has informed me this morning, via a bulletin from VW themselves, that VW are not putting any more performance Golfs into production until existing cars are sold. He's been told to inform customers that the very earliest anyone will see a new order is October, and that's optimistic.

Probably that would have been a reasonable strategy had they released all of them at the same time.

The staggered GTI/clubby/R/ED45 release schedule I'd imagine does harm them normally, let alone right now...

Which is fine when its not stock they are trying to shift.... this time there is dealer stock knocking around of the GTI/clubby and not the R or ED45.

I would hope the 45's are built in line with the constraints of its time frame as in 45 years since 1976 so they will build them in 2021.

I don't know if they have stuck to this historically with other anniversary editions through the years.

Either way I will be happy with a delivery anytime before Christmas but there's nothing I can do about it so I'll take it when it gets here and until then I can drive my current car quite happily. Stress free too.

I’m fine waiting.

In fact the longer it goes on the more orders are cancelled the more rare the e45 becomes.

I’m fine waiting til next year if I have to. Covid has changed my need to travel for work hence why I sold my Tesla.

I see what the semiconductor shortage has done to my industry so I’m realistic to know that vw aren’t getting a windfall anytime soon.

My order is still stuck on stage one lol

Think we ordered at the same time so let's see if they progress at a similar speed through the system and if any of the options cause a particular delay.

I have set a tracker checking limit to once a week though otherwise I'll be on it all day going crazy.

Dealer informed me it’s been marked as 2022 build year now, he said they start 2022 July 2021 so doesn’t mean it’s here in 2022 … but he didn’t rule it out either

Yeah MY22.... after July.

Who knows what a MY22 car has/hasn't got on it... that's the fun you'll be having.

Probably the biggest one will be the addition of the electronic speed limiter.... good luck.

It has got a speed limiter. It's set at 166MPH though.
