Does it mean much at this stage in the process?

Not really. At stage two, the factory will be ordering the specific component parts from their suppliers for your car’s build. Once VW know when those component parts will be supplied, they can schedule your car to a specific build week, at which point your car should move to stage three.

Hopefully the world shortage of semi-conductors won’t have too significant an impact on production. VW are included in this Autocar article, along with a number of other vehicle manufacturers;

2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Does anyone know when the order book for the Edition 45 will close? Any dealers on here that could confirm how full the order book is/how many build slots left? I know it's only being produced in 2021....

I think you've still got a few weeks left.

With a six month wait typical, you probably have maybe six weeks max.

If you want one, don't delay is my advice but remember it's going to be six months after you order.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

I ordered a Clubsport on December 11th 2020, I cancelled in April 2021 but I can still access the order process. It is still on “with the factory” stage 2! So over 6 months and still counting!!! I should think any Clubsport people who have ordered a similar time ago would be pretty miffed if ed45’s orders appear before theirs!

Thanks Fredgroves, hope to get an order in Monday! I have a question though which I know you will have the answer to! In my Golf 8 R, the DSG gearbox only goes into coast
function (Gear disengages until brake or throttle applied) in ECO mode, does the same apply to the Clubsport or is the coast function active in all modes?

Assuming the clubby is basically a GTI, coasting is active in comfort or eco drive modes, just not sport or ring (if you have dcc)

The R is slightly different, with only eco being remotely not a performance mode.

Got you, correct me if I am wrong but do you have a Clubsport Mk8 Fredgroves?
