So here's my daily, a sage green 1.4 16v 75bhp Golf mk5. Sportline spec so it has the super comfy sports seats  :cool: It averages 42ish mpg no matter what I do so it's good for eating up the miles. I've done a few small mods along the way, some have stayed and some have left. I've also bought some bigger stuff like aftermarket projectors and an ABT body kit but none of it stayed cause I thought it looked naff  :undecided: Here are some pictures from scattered periods over the last three years:

Last summer the Vento got all my attention but this summer I decided to drop some dollar on the daily. It's needed some cosmetic sorting for ages and if I didn't do it know it would just keep bugging me every day. So I bought the following:
Fresh set of number plates and holders. Current ones are fecked and dented and wobbly. Several dozy people in morning traffic have played bumper cars with the rear one and kids in an estate I lived in used the front one as target practice  :lipsrsealed:
18" Octavia VRS Zenith wheels

Leon Cupra R front splitter.
OEM GTI side skirts and fitting kit.
OEM GTI rear bumper. The current bumper has some scratches and marks from the previously mentioned dozy drivers. And from when I reversed into a crate  :lipsrsealed: :grin:
Oh and these  :evil::

The wheels are already on but I have no pictures yet. The car is booked into my local VW specialist for coilover and sideskirt fitting on Thursday. I decided not to DIY the coils this time because it needed some tools I don't have and since I need to use the car every day I really couldn't risk making a mistake. I'm terrible at any kind of body work so I wasn't going to chance the sideskirts anyway  :grin: From what I've read online the coils should drop to the height I want. It will be Thursday evening before I'll know if the helper springs are staying in or not  :grin: The tyres on the 18's should be fine as I followed a chart on mk5golfgti.com (or .co.uk or something) that has tyres sizes that won't rub for different wheel specs and drops. I'm aiming for a ~70mm drop which doesn't sound like much to the mk3 folk but is a pretty hefty drop on a mk5. Sadly the GTI rear bumper won't be fitted Thursday as upper bumper needs colour coding and I couldn't stretch the money that far.
So that's the story so far. Stay tuned folks :afro:

EDIT: Here's a link to that tyre size chart for any other mk5 owners who are interested:

I play bass mostly and some acoustic guitar for myself. I was in a band with a cd out and everything but it all kinda fell apart about two years ago and I haven't been playing much since  :undecided: I'm hoping to get back into a band and gigging soon though, just need to get off my arse and practice a bit  :smiley:

I can dance for you  :kiss:

The car has to stay in the garage overnight to let the bonding on the side skirts dry. The adhesive tape was too flimsy and was starting to sag pretty quickly. Should have the car back tomorrow around midday. Booked it in for cleaning tomorrow too. I'll hopefully have some pics tomorrow  :smiley:

Coils, skirts, splitter and plates are on. Car is cleaned. Everything is ready for Sunday  :cool: I didn't quite get the 70mm drop, only got 65ish. The front coils are down all the way with the helpers in and the rears have 10mm left with all adjusters and stuff still in. didn't drop the rear to the max as there would have had crazy reverse rake. There's a 1 finger gap all around at the moment. It should settle nicely though as the springs are still quite tense so once they bed it the height should drop that 10mm or so more that I was looking for. It's not as low as the Vento but not everything goes as low as a mk3  :grin: Still, it looks a lot better now  :cool:
Only 3 terrible pictures for the moment, will get some proper ones at the show on Sunday.

The ride on these coils is luuuush. It's like stock  :shocked: If any mk5 owners are looking for coilovers I 100% recommend AP coils :afro:
All in all it's looking a lot better. Looks properly mean when rolling. Arch gap should be gone once the coils settle down. After one day on the coils I'm very happy with how everything turned out  :smiley:
