Got the Brescia tidied up on the car was fed up looking at the dreaded white worm  got the diamond cut finish removed and the faces powder coated keeping the rest  similar to Orem look

Most of the Mk8 software bugs were not really infotainment ones (some were but not many), they were actually caused by the communication with the hundreds of different sensors and control units around the car.... or those components themselves.

For example... the SOS unit (which caused infotainment reboots or bongs or both), the V2X module which caused more bongs or the steering wheel which caused loads of bongs. All of those were faults in the modules themselves...

The only thing I can think of that was infotainment issues itself was one where the climate sync used to switch itself off.

Golf mk8 / Re: Mk8 headlights and wheels
« Last post by clarky92 on 11 April 2024, 10:07 »
Sorry to bring up an old topic, it’s hard to find other reports of mk8 headlight issues.

My car is booked in to have one of the headlights adjusted (the unit not the beam) as it’s been seated incorrectly at the factory. Did VW manage to remove your front bumper, swap the headlight and refit without any damage? I’m incredibly nervous about this work on my car, it’s only 4 months old since new. Do you know how they also calibrated the light after swapping it as my local dealership is giving out conflicting info on what needs to be done?

Thanks in advance

Golf mk7 / Re: Micro cracking on Tyres?
« Last post by davo245 on 11 April 2024, 08:33 »
I have had this issue on Goodyears and Dunlops recently, the goodyears were only 18 months old when they started showing signs of cracks down the middle of the main water channels (largely shielded from UV light)

I am told it is down to modern rubber compounds and a lot of high performance tyres suffer from it.

The Pzero on our GTI seem fine though and they are 4 years old.

Wonder if it could be caused by certain wheel or tyre cleaning products or tyre dressings?

Happened to me way back. I incorrectly mixed a cleaning product I used for the wheels. Tyres ended up scrap. I still use it, correctly mixed and no issues since. Tyres were Goodyear Assy's.

Apc or bilberry etc?

Golf mk8 / Re: MK8.5 Official News / Open for ordering the 11th of April

Seeing as the new infotainment screen is basically the same screen that’s appearing in the new ID7, refreshed ID4 and the new Tiguan, we’ll get a fair idea soon enough if the newer hardware/software has less gremlins or not. My wife has a new ID4 coming soon so I’ll see for myself what this new infotainment is like. I fear it’ll make my MK8 feel old!

Good news but still a sour taste that you had to challenge them in the first place.
