Mine (3 door cabriolet) were 17cm components in the front and back.
I should imagine the front of a 5d door is the same as the 3 door / cabriolet?
I put a nice pair of
Alpine SPR-176's in there ( I think the
SPR-17S's are the replacements) in the front - main speakers fitted beautifully, although I did have to mount them on 2mm rubber rings to move them away from the electric windows (and then just stuck the OEM grills over the front with some light contact adhesive).... and then the tweeters were a bit more work: as I had to "trim"(hack) the old tweeter mounts to get teh right size hole for the more robust Alpine tweeter... and then there was plenty of space to mount the crossover units directly under the tweeters.
Just be careful with the mounting depth that you have available when the window is DOWN... and remember - it's an uneven depth - especially if you have electric windows.
Not that this is relevant to this thread:
The back speakers weren't such a happy story... beautiful speakers, wired up and fitted no probs (when the window was UP) and sounded stunning (
Pioneer TS-E1796 3-way co-ax's), but the mounting depth was stupidly shallow once the window was down.... frigging cabriolet has rear electric windows that go ALL the way down... only manufacturer that I could find who did speakers that were anywhere near shallow enough was some specialist in Italy who wanted about £400 for a pair.... two fingers to that idea!
