[Nolonger] Urgent!!
« on: 08 October 2011, 18:26 »
I am in the process of removing my r32 style milltek exhaust from my GTI. Literally, I am under the car using my iPhone to write this

Just wanted confirmation, but do I need to remove these bolts? Will they screw back on if I do remove them?

I am currently working on the bolts just behind the back box

I've loosened the bolts for the parts that support the tail pipes, but not fully removed them, just in case I can't re-thread them back in  Am I doing this right??

A speedy answer would be greatly appreciated, bearing in mind where I am situated

That's what I was hoping! :undecided: Surely someone has removed an exhaust on here? All I need is a definitive 'yes, unscrew them, n they will screw back in'

Chris - What do mean slide it off? You can't slide it ff at the top, as it is around the metal bracket which is held on by the two bolts. As for the supporting arm attached to the exhaust, the end is capped/flared, to prevent it from coming off.

A bit like this:   =|    |=D (you can see what I mean in pic 2)

This is why I'm thinking I need to unbolt it? :undecided:

Trust me, that hanger welded onto the exhaust will come off the rubber.  Rubber is stretchy.

Its how all exhaust hangers work!

Whilst I'm under here..

So what you're saying is I don't need to unbolt the bolts? I want to know if I can. Last thing I want to do is unscrew them, n then I can't rescrew the fixings on! :lipsrsealed:

Can undo them, might snap in the process if they are tight.

Just slide it off.
