Close your Windows Using the key

If you have left your windows open you can close them using the key just lock the car using the key and hold it for a few secs - windows will close.

You can also open the windows using the key just hold it for few secs.

(You can buy a device - KVW100 to allow full closure from the remote fob.)

One touch window

The mk4 has one touch window roll up, If you disconnect the battery you need to teach the window where the upper and lower limits are to make it work again.

So:

Open the window by HOLDING the button until the window reaches opens fully.
Then Close the window by HOLDING the button until window closes fully.

Window should now have learnt it's limits, and hence 'one touch' should now work again.

Steering wheel height and reach adjustment

Not everyone knows this believe or not!
Just release it under the steering wheel to adjust it.

Turn off the ultrasonisc sensors

There is a little button on the b pillar (Drivers side) for switching off the interior sensors, if you want to leave pets in the car ect without the alarm going off.

Rear view mirror sun flap

The rear view flap is to remove glare on the rear view mirror when the reading lights are on at night.

Also quite handy when the sun is low and your getting blinded from all angles.

Petrol cap holder

The petrol cap has little grooves every 1/4 of the way round so that it sits nicely in place on top of the filler door rather than dangling on the quarter panel and leaving drips.

Rear cup holder

There is a rear cup holder located under the rear ashtray.

Heated mirrors

These will come on when the heated rear window is pressed - The mirror must be in "o" position not L or R.

Climatronic - change from Fahrenheit to Celsius

To change the climatronic display from degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius press and hold the Econ button and press the auto button.

Rear view mirror sun flap

The rear view flap is the little mini sun visor, quite handy when the sun is low and your getting blinded from all angles.

Whilst the flap doubles as a mini sun visor, I think the actually purpose is to remove glare on the rear view mirror when the reading lights are on at night.

There is in my 2000 GTI but in my mates 2001 TDI 130 I don't think there is. He has an arm rest whereas I don't but this should make a difference should it?

the GT TDI 130s came with the arm rest as standard, but the GT TDI 150 had it as an option, i'm pretty sure thats the same for the 1.8T too
