My old PD 130 indicated 50-55mpg and got around the 500-600 mile mark on a tankfull.

what sort of driving did u do tho, were u harsh on the accelerator and was it long motorway journeys? When I cam back from London with the car i put 20 in and had absoloutely loads left still. Like I say my driving style is fastish and where I live there is alot of hills lol A welsh village!

It was mostly driven by my Mrs so not ragged but driven at or slightly above the speed limits and a mixture of driving situations.  Has yours been remapped?

No remap. Im like u drive slightly over the limits. The mrs dont drive it tho so thats prob why lol Im tring to find out if mine is the pump duse model. its 2001 51 reg Gt Tdi 130. What u think?

Good I hope so. Is there a GT TDi made in that year that isnt a pump duse model? There is no indication that its a 130 apart from last owners word basically. But I can tell its powerful, more than 115bhp 4 def. What u think? Anywayis there a way to check?

It should be detailed inside the service book.  Failing that, go to your local VW garage and they will have the details online.

i tend to average around 45-50mpg and have got 480-ish miles out of the last 2 tanks. it's neither town nor motorway driving it's 'a17' driving... i.e.40-50mph over a 35 mile stretch

Yeah those sats are about the same as mine. So thats a relief. I knew it was good. But im sure I saw some people saying they get 500/600 miles. Which for me is only possible on motorway driving, and taking it really easy. But that takes half the fun away. With my style of driving, giving at caining every now and then, 475 miles is ideal. Remembering its 130bhp. My 180 was doing about 300 on a full tank!

Still new to this myself but am I right in thinking that there is a sticker in the boot that gives the Kw rating of the engine?

there is indeed, by the spare wheel and if it says 96KW then its a 130 TDI  :nerd:

i get aobut 420 but i fill up when i've still got about 15 litres left so as not to drag up the crud from the bottom of the tank. I do have a heavy right foot mind.....

I've done around 2k since buying my 110 GT TDI and my overall average is 50 mpg. I tend to use the car to get to work: 52 mile round trip and a couple of trips to mid Wales a month, 360 miles round trip.
