Just been quoted approx £128 to fit the lift pump. Does this seem reasonable for the work it would take? That's pump included i'm presuming.

i thought as much. i'll buy the pump myself and it'll only cost me £30max if i get my usual bloke to fit it. Just have to wait a couple of weeks now until he gets back!

And as a fellow tight northerner would you recommend then that i buy the strainer as well as the pump or just risk the one that's in there already? Oh sod it, it's costing me enough as it is what another tenner!

Booked in for 15th June. if this doesn't work i'll be getting the 8V back on the road.....

I think those nice guy's a Nottingham VW (Foxes?) will let you return the strainer if its surpless to requirements.  Ask them when you go for the pump.

i did ask but apparently as it's special order there are no returns on parts under £50. Still, i can pick them up tomorrow morning.

by it yourself and do it honestly its not a hard job. and i wouldnt pay anyone to do it, its that easy
